Understanding, adapting, and conserving.
None of us can forget the 2024 “big dry” when the bushlands and the forests from north of Geraldton through to Albany in the southwest were dying through lack of rainfall and excessive summer time heat. Joe Fontaine, from Murdoch University, published a great article in The Conversation on 15 April 2024.
12 months later, we can now reflect on those impacts and what we have learnt about the vulnerability of bushland, forest and wetlands ecosystems. And we are delighted to have Joe Fontaine as our guest speaker to talk about the impacts of heat and drought on our bushlands.
