Two users of iNaturalist, Patrick Wake from Quinns Rock Environmental Group and Lydia Fenu from the UBC Committee and Wildflower Society WA (Armadale Branch), are coming together to show you their experiences with the app and to teach you how to use it.
What is iNaturalist?
iNaturalist is a not-for-profit social network of people, who share biodiversity information which helps each other conserve and learn more about nature. It has been run since 2008 now with more than 3 million users on the app and over 190 million observations worldwide. The network works with the Atlas of Living Australia and Plants of the World Online to assist all people to identify and broaden their understanding of living things.
Why use iNaturalist?
Help protect your patch by ongoing recording of the biodiversity in your area for the public and land managers to see its value! iNaturalist can be used to record all living species in your area, as long as you can get a photo of it! The app has been used to find numerous new species worldwide. It is a tool to find what species occur in your area and a way to expand your knowledge of all living things and their names.
