Protecting places we love
Wednesday 23 October from 18:00 to 20:00
Free2024 has been a difficult year for protecting our environment, the patches that we love so well. In the next week we expect that changes to the Environmental Protection Act will sail through the WA Parliament. We believe they will affect the independence of the EPA and take away some of our right to have a say .
There is a silver lining. In the face of this challenge the community conservation sector has formed a strong alliance under the leadership of the Conservation Council WA and together we have developed a blueprint for positive reform for better protection of the environment. We will launch this at the CCWA Annual Conference in mid November.
It is clear that we need to create a groundswell of change in our communities to protect those natural places that we love.
We can protect our patch, but how do we make sure that the bush or wetland or coastal strip or river edge ‘over there’ is not lost. We need to extend our care to those patches as well.
Collectively, we have the voices, the people passionate about their patch, their cause.
Come along and help us work out ways that we can change the stories around biodiversity loss through our own actions.
Connect with like-minded conservationists and leave with some new ideas.
